Among the species whose international trade is regulated under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES, "the Convention"), those designated by the Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment (Gihu Eneoji Hwangyeong-bu) are called "internationally endangered species." They fall into three groups under the Convention's appendices. (Wildlife Protection and Management Act, Article 2(3))
Appendix I — Species threatened with extinction that are or may be affected by international trade
Appendix II — Species not currently threatened with extinction that may become so unless international trade is strictly regulated, and other species regulated alongside them so that trade in threatened species can be effectively controlled
Appendix III — Species that a Party has identified as regulated within its jurisdiction to restrict their use, and for which it considers the cooperation of other Parties necessary to control international trade
